WOOD SUBLIMATION LINES

Wood sublimation, also known as wood grain transfer, is a process used to apply wood grain patterns to aluminum sections. This process is popular for creating aluminum products that mimic the appearance of wood while retaining the benefits of metal. The sublimation process involves several steps and requires specific equipment, including a sublimation oven. Here's an overview of the process and the equipment involved -

Wood Sublimation Process

1. Preparation of Aluminum Sections - 

  - Cleaning - The aluminum sections are cleaned thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease, or impurities that may affect the coating process.

  - Pre-Treatment - A powder coating is applied to the aluminum sections. This base coat is usually a polyester powder coating that provides a smooth and adhesive surface for the sublimation process.

2. Application of Sublimation Film - 

  - A sublimation film with the desired wood grain pattern is wrapped tightly around the coated aluminum sections. This film contains inks that will be transferred to the aluminum during the heating process.

3. Sublimation Oven - 

  - The wrapped aluminum sections are placed in a sublimation oven. This oven is designed to provide consistent heat and pressure.

  - The temperature in the oven typically ranges between 180°C and 200°C (356°F to 392°F), and the heating time can vary from 10 to 20 minutes depending on the specific requirements.

  - During heating, the inks on the sublimation film vaporize and penetrate the powder coating, transferring the wood grain pattern onto the aluminum.

4. Cooling and Finishing -

  - After the heating process, the aluminum sections are removed from the oven and allowed to cool.

  - The sublimation film is then removed, revealing the wood grain pattern that has been transferred onto the aluminum.

  - A final inspection ensures the quality of the transfer, and any excess film or residue is cleaned off.
